Pajaritos are at the mild end of Avalon's truffle range. The shop places them between Mexicana A, its mildest truffle, and Tampanensis, which it calls medium-strength. On the same page it describes Pajaritos as "comparable to Tampanensis, slightly stronger than Mexicana" and as "an accessible choice for people with some experience or adventurous beginners". Everything stronger in the range, from Atlantis to Valhalla, sits above them.
The ladder, mild to strong
This order follows Avalon's own product descriptions, read on 16 October 2026. Where a page compares strains, we quote it.

All of these come in packs of 15 grams of fresh truffles, so the pack size does not tell you anything about strength. The step does.
What the grading is based on
No lab has published psilocybin figures for Pajaritos as a strain, and shops do not test every batch. The grading above is the shop's experience with how its truffles compare, and that is how you should read it.
What has been measured is how much truffles in general can vary. A laboratory at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in Rome tested magic truffles and found 59.3 to 167.8 micrograms of psilocybin per 100 milligrams of fresh truffle (Pellegrini et al., 2013). That is a range of almost three to one. In grams: 10 grams of fresh truffle could hold anything from about 6 to about 17 milligrams of psilocybin. The study did not name strains, but it shows why two packs, or two sessions, can feel different.
Your body adds its own variation. Weight, a full or empty stomach, sleep, mood and recent use of psychedelics all shift how a given amount lands. A milder strain leaves more room for those differences, which is the practical reason to start low on the ladder.
Which pack to pick
Never taken truffles before. Pajaritos or Mexicana A. Both are graded mild by the shop, and Avalon itself suggests Pajaritos for adventurous beginners. Take part of the pack, not all of it; the first session page has amounts in grams.
Tried Mexicana before. Pajaritos is the next step up in the shop's ranking. Keep the amount the same as your Mexicana session the first time, then adjust.
Comfortable with Pajaritos. Tampanensis or Atlantis are the medium step. Change one thing per session: a new strain, or a larger amount, never both at once.
Looking for something strong. Hollandia, Dragon and Valhalla are graded strong and above. They are outside the scope of this site. For Hollandia and Valhalla the shop itself advises starting with half a pack or less.

A social truffle
Avalon describes Pajaritos as "a social truffle that's ideal for group sessions or an evening with friends", with visual effects that are "present but not overwhelming: light patterns, bright color perception, and pleasant distortion of the environment". Some people, the shop adds, have mild hallucinations.
The Trimbos Institute points out that all truffles contain the same active substances, psilocybin and psilocin (DRUGSinfo). The character of a session therefore depends a lot on the amount, your mood and the people around you. A group evening works best when everyone takes a similar, modest amount and at least one person stays sober.
Buying for more than one session
Avalon calls a 15 gram pack of its mildest truffle enough for a complete session. A pack of Pajaritos covers one session for one person, or two lighter ones. Avalon gives a lower price per pack from three packs upwards, which the shop page shows. Fresh truffles keep for about a month in the fridge (see storage), so only buy what you will use during your stay.
